Description
The title translates as "A wild beast is roaming on our border and drooling on noble Belgium !! Down with the shame of Europe".
On 2 August, the German government sent an ultimatum to Belgium, demanding passage through the country and German forces invaded Luxembourg. Two days later, the Belgian Government refused the demands and the British Government guaranteed military support to Belgium. On 3 August Germany declared war on France. The German government declared war on Belgium on 4 August, troops crossed the border and attacked the Belgian city of Liège.
George Bouisset who was born on 12 May 1903 in Toulouse and died in 1965 was a French painter and illustrator of compositions of human figures, nudes and portraits. He studied under the history painter Henri Bonis and the Neo-Impressionist Ernest Laurent. He was awarded the Grand Prix for painting at the Toulouse school of fine arts in 1923. He went on to study at the school of fine arts in Paris until 1927.
