Description
State two of two, now with inset of Lake Champlain's Fort Frederick (Fort Saint-Frederic) or Crown Point.
According to Lloyd Brown in Early Maps of the Ohio Valley, "one of the earliest attempts to indicate the topography of the Ohio Valley and the surrounding country as well as the dense forests and mountain ranges. The use of fine shading and hachures to indicate relief is unusual for the period.".
The Great Lakes are derived from Jean Baptiste Bourguignon d'Anville's map of 1746.
Prepared by Johann Christoph Rhode (1713 - 1786) and engraved by Friedrich Gottlieb Berger (1713 - c. 1797).
