Description
He first worked as an engraver for such cartographers as Sir Jonas Moore, and then become a noted publisher of atlases, maps, and globes on his own. Moll, along with John Senex, was the most active publisher of maps of America in early eighteenth-century England. His work is marked by clarity of lettering and by numerous legends on the face of his maps, which give historical information and often explain its source.
His impressive body of maps and atlases constitute some of the finest examples of early British cartography, beautifully rendered and highly significant historically.
