Description
The two hemispheres are on a large scale and hence reveal incredible detail of the world at the end of the 18th century. For example the tracks of all three of Cook's voyages are depicted. This map was printed on four sheets and joined to form a pair of large hemisphere maps, laid down on linen at the time of issue.
Furthermore, the maps were provided with blackened wooden rollers so that they could be easily displayed.
Without doubt these kinds of large scale maps were to be found in the offices of enterprises that were doing business in the far-flung corners of the world.
Joining both maps will create a truly monumental world map with dimensions of 1900 x 1942 mm.
These wall maps are rather rare on the market and certainly in such a good condition with original rollers is hard to find.
