Description
French artist. Son of Gilles-François Belleau Graimberg. Louis Charles François emigrated with his family in May 1791 and participated in the wars “Première Coalition au sein de la Compagnie de la noblesse de Champagne ». After leaving active duty, he settled with his family on the island of Guernsey and traveled throughout Europe.
Passionate about design, he moved to Paris in 1807 and became a pupil of Jean-Victor Bertin. In 1810, he went to Karlsruhe to follow the course of Christian Haldenwang (de).
He settled in Heidelberg to devote to the ruins of Heidelberg Castle. He devoted his life to the protection and restoration, did see the ruins through a series of engravings and convinced the Grand Duke Leopold, Grand Duke of Baden to restore some of the main buildings.
