Description
Promotional mid-size poster of a double hemisphere world map designed by Lucien Boucher for AIR France. The map depicts the entire world in rich blues and burgundies with gold highlighting. Air France routes are highlighted in red.
The hemispheres are filled with two airplanes soaring through the skies, and in the oceans there are ships, a whale, Neptune, and a couple old-fashioned sea monsters.
The surround, features in top and bottom corners natives of North and South America meeting the Europeans, and scenes of Asians and Africans. Between the hemispheres, there is an ornate compass rose and an inset zooming in on the flight routes available in western Europe. Behind the title banner, there are monuments from some of the great cities of Europe.
In lower part : "Sur les ailes d'Air France découvrez le monde à votre tour" or "Discover the world on your turn on the wings of Air France".
The poster has always occupied a special place in Air France's communication. With a heritage of more than 1,500 posters by the most prestigious illustrators and artists, the Company has one of the richest collections in the world. Air France uses well-known posters like Savignac, Solon and Cassandre, for example, the Company also innovates by turning to recognized artists such as Cocteau, Mathieu, Brenet, Picart Ledoux or Vasarely.

Lucien_Boucher is a commercial poster artist and illustrator born in Chartres in 1889 and died in 1971. After graduating from the Ecole de céramiques de Sèvres, he began his career as a cartoonist for the satiric newspaper Le Rire. In the 1920s he worked actively as a poster designer for the movies and the advertising industry. He designed a significant number of lithography inspired by the surrealist style. He’s very well known of a series of posters (advertising & world map) designed for Air France.

A flat shipping fee of € $ 30 is added to each shipment within Europe and North America. This covers : International Priority shipping, Packing and Insurance (up to the invoice amount).
Shipments to Asia are $ 40 and rest of the world $50
We charge only one shipping fee when you have been successful on multiple items or when you want to combine gallery and auction purchases.

- Items will be listed for 7 days. In the first day of the sale, users are only able to add items to their "My Buy or Bid" page".
- Starting at 4.00 PM EST (Amsterdam 22.00) the following day up to the closing you may purchase an item at the Buy price.
- Once the Buy price is paid the sale for this item has closed.
- We show the "Bid & Ask spread" (to define the gap between the minimum accepted bid and Buy price.)
- Items that have received bids within the BidAsk spread are sold at the highest bid at closing.
- For bids entered within the BidAsk spread, we use the proxy-bidding process, so you are getting the item at the lowest possible price.
