Description
This German edition published in Strasbourg by Bernhart in 1584 and EXTRA ILLUSTRATED WITH a map of Italy and six Italian town plans by Matteo Florimi, and an anonymous plan of Venice.
Bound in vellum by Pierson Henry Jose, who was a Parisian bookbinder who was active at the end of the 19th century and rivaled Michel, Canape, Trautz in a period of great quality for French binding.

Carolus Sigonius (Carlo Sigonio or Sigone) (c. 1524 – 12 August 1584) was an Italian humanist, born in Modena. Having studied Greek under the learned Franciscus Portus of Candia, he attended the philosophical schools of Bologna and Pavia, and in 1545 was elected professor of Greek in his native place in succession to Portus.
In 1552 he was appointed to a professorship at Venice, which he exchanged for the chair of eloquence at Padua in 1560.
